John Deere has introduced SmartDetect Assist, its latest advancement in object detection technology designed to improve safety across construction jobsites. Building on the existing SmartDetect ecosystem, this new solution enhances operator awareness and machine responsiveness in dynamic working environments.
SmartDetect Assist integrates high-resolution cameras, radar, and an intuitive in-cab display to deliver a comprehensive, real-time view of the machine’s surroundings. When obstacles are detected, the system issues immediate visual and audible alerts both inside and outside the machine. It can also automatically slow down or stop the equipment to help prevent potential collisions, supporting safer operations and reducing risk.
The technology complements earlier solutions such as SmartDetect and SmartDetect Digital, which provide obstacle recognition and data insights through the John Deere Operations Center. With added features like projected reverse path lines and configurable operating parameters, SmartDetect Assist helps operators better understand machine movement and surroundings.
While not a replacement for operator responsibility, SmartDetect Assist serves as an additional layer of protection, reinforcing jobsite safety and improving operational efficiency. The system is now available on select John Deere utility loaders.
